Join Us!

It is our mission to inspire, train, and promote current and future scientists of all career paths . To succeed in this mission, we prioritize the cultivation of an equitable, diverse and inclusive laboratory environment that advances the training and career development of all members.

Undergraduate Students:

Students in their first, second, or early third year of undergraduate studies from any department or program at OSU are encouraged to inquire about research opportunities in the Belote Lab.  Should you find yourself interested in anything we study, please reach out to me (belote.3@osu.edu) and we can set up a time to discuss our research and undergraduate opportunities in the lab.

Graduate Students:

The Belote Lab is affiliated with the Molecular Genetics (MolGen) and Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology (MCDB) graduate programs at OSU.  If you are a current, or soon to be,  OSU College of Arts and Sciences graduate student interested in our lab’s cellular heterogeneity studies (molecular, cellular, tissue and/or organismal level), please email me (belote.3@osu.edu) with a short description of your research interests and a copy of your CV. We can then schedule a time to meet for a more in-depth discussion regarding the lab’s research, your research/career interests, and mentorship. If you are enrolled in another graduate program besides MolGen or MCDB, please indicate which program and provide additional information as to why you believe our lab is best suited for your graduate training.

Postdoctoral Scholars:

We are always looking for highly motivated postdoctoral scholars to join us.  Candidates should have a recent PhD or be in their final year of PhD studies. Postdocs will have the opportunity to pursue research tailored to their career goals. The Belote lab takes a multi-disciplinary approach to understanding cellular heterogeneity across biological scales, using human, murine, and zebra fish in silico, ex vivo, in situ, in vivo and in vitro systems. We are especially interested in individuals with experience in the above systems and expertise in one or more of the following areas: molecular biology, cell biology, developmental biology, cancer biology, bioinformatics, biophysics or biochemistry. Prior experience in pigment cell research is not required and we welcome individuals from all research backgrounds.

To apply, please email me (belote.3@osu.edu): 1) a cover letter describing research interests, including how they align with our lab’s research, and career goals; 2) a copy of your most recent CV.
